Hope and Homes for Children wants to give a hand to the Bogza family by helping them build a house, a home where they can live in decent conditions. Obviously, they need money, which is also why the organizers of the Băneasa Forest Run have decided to help with the fundraising.
39 % of Romania's children live in poverty; they don’t have clothes and footwear, they don’t attend kindergarten or school and sometimes they have nothing to eat. This is also the case of the Bogza family, consisting of parents and six children, aged 1 to 9 years old. The family lives in an adobe hut, which is on the verge of collapsing, amid stray dogs - inappropriate conditions for raising children. The father works wherever he can, the mother stays at home to take care of the children and she has given up her treatment against epilepsy, due to the lack of money. In spite of everything, parents continue to send their children to school and kindergarten, acknowledging the important role that education plays in children's lives and being aware that this is their only chance to defeat poverty.
Hope and Homes for Children wants to give a hand to the family by building a house, a home where they can live in decent conditions. Obviously, they need money, which is also why the organizers of the Băneasa Forest Run have decided to help with the fundraising. When registering for the November 4th event on the website www.baneasaforestrun.ro, each runner can donate an amount of money to the Bogza family, and for those already registered or who want to donate anyway, they can do it directly on the event’s Galantom web site. The donated money will help at the
construction of the home which the six children will enjoy. Donations can also be made directly at the event on November 4th, where Hope and Homes for Children will have a special place set up for runners who support the cause.
"Some of the funds that support the programme for preventing child-family separation, through which Hope and Homes for Children helps over 2,000 children annually, come from individual donors, amateur, but also professional athletes, who choose to dedicate their efforts to a cause - to help vulnerable children stay with their parents. Now, runners at Băneasa Forest Run are joining the Hope and Homes for Children supporters and helping the Bogza children stay where they belong and have the childhood they deserve. We thank them right now on and we wish them good luck with their training", said Robert Ion, Fundraising Director, Hope and Homes for Children.
Over 500 runners are already registered for the November 4th edition of Băneasa Forest Run. Having two different lengths, one of 11 km and the other of 21 km, the race is at the second edition and promises runners an interesting experience, especially since it is the only race in Băneasa forest at the end of autumn, in a unique natural setting. Supporters who want to encourage the runners are welcome in the start/finish area. Various activities will be prepared both for adults and children.
Come one, come all to Băneasa Forest Run on November 4th!
