"In 2016 we celebrate adulthood. In 1998 we started the first project of closing down an institution. It was am orphanage with 90 babies in Cavnic, Maramures County. All those newborns arrived in families or family-based environments. Now they are young adults. After 18 years of project, we see the fruits of our labor. We still have work to do: 160 institutions to be closed, with nearly 8,000 children in them, in a country which must invest in the most vulnerable families, to keep them united, in a Romania where the right to family, health, education for all children is a must. Now, the Romanian organisation is Regional Center for Central and South of Hope and Homes for Children and we implement in many other countries what we did here. With this vision, with the conviction that we can offer technical support to our programmes in Moldova, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, Greece and Turkey and support the development of reform programmes in countries in Africa and South America”, said Ștefann Dărăbuş regional director for Hope and Homes for Children in Central and Southern Europe.
