Alina and Omid will work with the best graduates of Inside Academy, the non-formal interior design course that has started this spring.

Omid Ghannadi and Alina Vîlcu, the famous architects of PRO TV show “Visuri la cheie” (Extreme Makeover - Home Edition), will furnish the two small group homes that Hope and Homes for Children will build in Sector 4 in Bucharest, as part of the process of closing down “Robin Hood” Foster Care Centre. Alina and Omid will work with the best graduates of Inside Academy, the non-formal interior design course that has started this spring.

In April, Omid Ghannadi and Alina Vîlcu launched the first edition of the Inside Academy interior design course. During the 12-module course, the students had the opportunity to learn practical concepts about residential space design, ranging from functionality of a home, economy, light and colour to finishing, furniture and textures. At this course, Omid and Alina wanted to combine their activity with being engaged in a social cause, to fulfil a community’s need through their job.

Alina and Omid are close to Hope and Homes for Children, supporting the Foundation's cause both by participating in the events and by effectively engaging in running competitions where they have raised money for the cases supported by the Foundation. For the first edition of Inside Academy, they have chosen again to support Hope and Homes for Children. Therefore, part of the course's fee value has been donated to Hope and Homes for Children and the orphanage closing-down projects that the Foundation has been running for 20 years in Romania.

In addition, Omid and Alina, along with the school's best students, will be in charge of decorating and furnishing two small group homes built by Hope and Homes for Children as part of the process of closing down “Robin Hood” Foster Care Centre in Sector 4 in Bucharest.

"For years, Hope and Homes for Children has been taking care to keep me fit, both emotionally and physically. My legs have run quite a few marathons for their campaigns, and they have always taken care of my emotional exercises. As an architect, I know for sure that the most beautiful buildings and cities of the world could never have been built without people or some crazy people pursuing their dreams. Only together we can create magic and it is up to each of us to contribute to the creation of that world where we claim we want to live. For us, the Inside Academy gang, the world is becoming more beautiful when children are happy, so we are extremely lucky to offer these magnificent 12 from "Robin Hood” Foster Care Centre a place they can call home", said architect Omid Ghannadi.

This year in July the construction work of the "Cavalerii" Home has began, the first of the two small group homes to be built by Hope and Homes for Children and Holcim Romania in Sector 4. When the house is finished, 12 children from the "Robin Hood" Foster Care Centre will move in here. Another 12 children will move in the second small group home, whose construction works are due to start soon. Omid and Alina will meet the children in the centre to ask them what their needs and desires are, so that the house they will move into to be really their "home".

"My first contact with Hope and Homes for Children was almost 4 years ago, when they enabled the team at “Visuri la cheie” (Extreme Makeover - Home Edition)” to renovate Anișora Bordei’s apartment, the mother of 7 children. I have been thinking about this handful of people changing lives, and on multiple occasions I have wondered "how, using what resources?". I met Hope and Homes for Children again a year ago. I got to know them, especially because a member of the Hope and Homes for Children team was a former Inside Academy student. And I have realised that the resources that make miracles happen are always inside us. They are dedication, love, empathy, maturity and intransigence. And these internal resources generate external resources, which make changes possible. I feel it is a privilege when my work brings good into the lives of others. It is in fact a privilege to do my job with people who inspire me and motivate me to discover the best parts of myself”, said architect Alina Vîlcu.

The small group home is a service that offers children and young people an environment as close as possible to a family. In a home, there are 12 children at most. They enjoy accommodation, care, education, emotional support and counselling for the development of independent living skills. Altogether, Hope and Homes for Children has built 105 small group homes and closed down 56 old-type institutions (orphanages) during the 20 years of activity in Romania.

Omid Ghannadi has been supporting Hope and Homes for Children since 2017. Together with Team Hope, the Foundation's fundraising team of runners, he has participated in every edition of the Bucharest Marathon and Half-Marathon, where he runs and raises money with his friends, including Dragoș Bucur, Adela Pârvu, Claudiu Pândaru, Florin Negruțiu. This year in June, Omid Ghannadi received the title of Team Hope Ambassador, in a ceremony organized by Hope and Homes for Children at the residence of the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Bucharest. Omid is involved in the Foundation's projects and helps the children enrolled in Hope and Homes for Children programmes whenever the opportunity arises. Accepting Omid's invitation, Alina Vîlcu also joined as a supporter of Hope and Homes for Children and ran the 2017 Bucharest Half-Marathon.
