Vladimir Drăghia will run for Hope and Homes for Children at the Bucharest Marathon

On Sunday, October 9th, Vladimir Drăghia will start running in the 42 km race at the Raiffeisen Bank Bucharest Marathon and will be wearing Team Hope’s blue T-shirt, the one for the team of fundraising runners of  Hope and Homes for Children. Other 400 runners will join him in different events of this competition and they will also support our programmes.

This is Vladimir’s first participation in a marathon. So far, he has run on shorter distances (at the Brașov International Marathon for the 10 km event and at the TriChallenge Herbalife Brașov, the individual-Olympic event), and at the Bucharest Marathon he aims to test his limits. His motivation comes from the fact that, by wearing the Team Hope T-shirt, he can raise awareness about the cause of Hope and Homes for Children: support provided to poor families in order to enable them to raise their children rather than abandon them in state-run institutions.

I chose to run 42 km because it will be very difficult for me to finish the race. The training I have gone through so far tells me that this will be almost impossible. But if Hope and Homes for Children takes on such a difficult task, if they can bring hope to where it is most needed, this means I can also take a few steps on this road paved with good intentions”, says Vladimir.

Vladimir Drăghia is an actor (he has starred in “Voice of the Heart” and ”The Wild Daffodil” on Antena 1 and in dozens of TV commercials), and a director (he directed the documentary entitled ”Ecuad’or”), as well as an author of a poetry volume called ”Love Has No Plural”. He was involved in charitable causes for MaiMultVerde and Special Olympics. He was also an athlete and he practiced swimming for 12 years and was part of the Olympic swimming team and he continue to practice sports on a regular basis.

The Bucharest Marathon is a competition organized by the Bucharest Running Club and its mission is to facilitate the access of individuals, communities and companies to achieving their personal objectives through an active and healthy lifestyle, while providing them with the possibility to have a positive impact in the society. Currently there are more than 20 causes partnered with OMV Petrom Bucharest Half-Marathon and Raiffeisen Bank Bucharest Marathon which raise EUR 50,000 to 100,000 per year for community, social, education, and ecological projects. This is Team Hope’s fifth participation in a running competition. Up to this point, more than 1,000 runners and 200 volunteers have chosen to support the projects of Hope and Homes for Children.
